Wonderful Weather
This week we focused on the different types of weather. We learned that the sun is a gigantic ball of gas. The sun helps things grow and is good for us too! We learned that wind is created when warm air rises and cold air rushes in. We had a great time using a fan to see what things the wind could move! We also learned about the water cycle. The sun heats up the water that is on the earth, which turns it to vapor. The vapor then rises (evaporates) and gathers (condenses), into clouds. When the clouds are heavy with moisture, it rains, and the cycle starts all over again. The water cycle is a blast to experiment with. We "caught" a cloud of moisture from a boiling pan of water. We made sponges fill with water vapor and then rain. We saw that air pressure can keep a piece of paper attached to an upside-down cup filled with water. Cool! Then we painted with water outside. And guess what? The water evaporated! We painted our names, and they evaporated! We painted rainbows, and fish, and flowers- and they evaporated! We even tried to make a huge lake, but guess what? It evaporated too!!!
